Loads coming up this week, though a surprising amount of the games coming up are remasters & remakes. In terms of movies, the reign of Horror continues, as we get closer to October. Plus, as the autumn returns, so to do the TV shows.
12th September
Iron Fish
This indie game is one of many about the perils of the deep blue sea. This time, the draw is the sandbox environment and the horror elements. The bottom of the ocean is horrifying by itself, so the threat of nightmarish fictional fish will have many wishing for their water wings.
Desend into the depths on PC

Dead Rising
Dead Rising 2
Dead Rising 2: Off The Record
Gonna lump all three of these together, Dead Rising as a series finally gets onto multi platform development. The first two games and the DLC expansion for game 2 will be available now. The series pretty much kick started the obsession of Zombies in the last generation, so now you can see how everything began. The time limited narrative and sandbox story progression always had a big draw for fans, and now you can enjoy them all with smooth upgraded graphics and gameplay.
Don’t Starve Together
Survive in the Gothic, deeply unfriendly wilderness in this survival game. And this time you can do it with a friend. When I played this one, Co-operative gameplay was one of the few ways I thought that things could be improved. There’s a lot to be said for failing alongside someone else.
You better not Starve on Playstation 4
The Witness
Puzzles for puzzles sake as Xbox One owners finally get to attempt the critically acclaimed problem solving game on their own console. I suppose the main benefit of the wait is that now the guides for the game will be readily accessible online. You know. If you need the help.
Solve the mysteries of the island on Xbox One
September 14th
Pac-Man Championship Edition 2
Pac-Man Championship Edition is widely considered a marvel, being an incredible reinvigoration of the classic game. This time, see the thematically appropriate funky 3D graphics and try Pacman Adventure Mode for a new way to play.
Pop some pills on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC
South Park
South Park returns with season 20. With the series likely to continue its continuity building deason arcs, will this season be any better than the frankly rather tonally confused season 19?
Come on Down to South Park on Comedy Central to find out.
September 15th
PlayStation 4 Slim
The PlayStation 4 moves to the sleeker model from this point onwards, but should you want to pick up the older version (with the optical port and old style controller) then from today onwards, I’d say that deals on the Original PS4 will be pretty common. Maybe time to take advantage of that.
PES 2017
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIhbkrdsDKU
Konami releases the only real game in their stable this year as they hope they can make some money from video games now that their pachinko plans are scuppered. But Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona are all throwing their weight behind this game, so there’s some draw for the fans at least.
Final whistle blows on PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox One and 360 and on PC.
NHL 17
Canadian Simulator 2017 releases, with a whole suite of new game modes, including managerial modes and deeper “on ice” gameplay.
Shred the ice on Xbox One and Playstation 4
Blair Witch
Not a remake, but a stealth sequel, the film previously known as The Forest got a lot of horror fans excited when it was confirmed as being a sequel to the Horror classic. Can this film stand up to the hype from following the progenitor of the found footage movie?
If you go down to the woods today, you’ll find out.
16th September
ReCore
This is coming out now? Microsoft have done almost no marketing for ReCore, and I don’t know what they’re expecting. I was vaguely hopeful for an interesting action adventure game but my optimism levels are low on this one based on the lack of info.
Grab your robot friends and start adventuring on Xbox One and PC
NBA 2K17
The premier basketball experience releases, without a Story mode by Spike Lee, and therefore a whole lot less hilarious. But there’s a whole lot to work on even so, with three levels of management simulation at the team, General Manager and League levels.
Shoot some Hoops on Xbox 360 and One and Playstation 3 and 4
BioShock: The Collection
Head back below the sea and above the clouds. The remastered edition will bring the series into the modern era, including a host of performance boosts and some improvements graphically. The original Bioshock is still a great game, and BioShock Infinite is a flawed gem, definitely worth trying if you haven’t experienced it yet. And you know, Bioshock 2 is there.
Would you kindly pick up the game collection on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
Batman: The Telltale Series – Season Pass Disc
The retail version of the Telltale games releases. The digital version is already available, the first episode is supposedly promising, but with no real draw yet for anyone but die hard batman fans and telltale completionists. Maybe this will be a good buy come episode two.
Enter the Mind of the Bat on Xbox One and 360, as well as Playstation 3 and 4
Bridget Jones’s Baby
The ultimate force in romantic comedy returns as Renee Zellweger resumes her role as Bridget Jones. With a baby on the way, and potentially two fathers, expect plenty of hilarity as Ms Jones has some new adventures in motherhood.
The Infiltrator
Bryan Cranston flips the script as an agent sent to infiltrate drug cartels in 1980’s Florida. Based on the story of the biggest drugs sting in US history, this looks like a tightly wound crime thriller.
The Neighbour
Another horror film of the secret public threat variety. A petty drug dealer decides to retire from his life of crime. When he returns to the family home he finds that his little sister is missing. The only clue is that her telescope is pointed at the home of their creepy widower neighbour. Upon investigation, a terrible secret is revealed…
