The E3 Sony Conference 2018 will be the last of the full conferences, and we’re well aware of what’s to come. Because the PlayStation expo offers Sony a chance at some competition free media space later in the year, here we’re getting four deep dives into highly anticipated games. Spider-Man, Ghosts of Tsushima, The Last of Us 2 and Death Stranding will be the games on show here primarily. But will we see anything else? Let’s hope so.
9pm BST, E3 Microsoft Conference 2018 is go. What will we see at the E3 Microsoft Conference 2018? By all reports, this is going to be the big one, with Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed and many other huge hitters supposedly in Microsoft’s arsenal.
The E3 EA Conference 2018 was very much muted this year. Not a whole lot of things we haven’t seen. The whole delivery here appeared to be based around making as little fuss or promise as possible, while still trying to show off the newest games
EA now has a huge uphill battle in the minds of the general audience and media following the Battlefront 2 Microtransaction Brouhaha. What do we expect for them to bring to the Table for E3 2018? What are our E3 EA Predictions?
So Ubisoft then. Well, No Assassin’s Creed this year. Doesn’t mean no teaser, but don’t expect any gameplay. The same can be assumed for Far cry as well. South Park, The Fractured But Whole, For Honour and Ghost Recon: WIldlands are all but guaranteed to be getting release dates and big features, I would also expect another look at the Division expansion. Maybe we will see Watch Dogs 2. But I want to hope they’re keeping that all to its little announcement ceremony before E3 proper. Because otherwise it’s just likely to give people snark to work with. And there’s always the persistent hope that Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Prince of Persia will appear.
Bethesda had their first conference last year, and it was easily one of the most impressive. But that was largely due to the presence of Doom and the hype for Fallout 4. Now, can they match up?
Pre-E3 Pre Amble. Not technically going with a conference this year, EA is hosting EA Play Events in Los Angeles and London, but also broadcasting their new trailers in a timed message around about the same moment. So nothing really changed then for the majority of the audience watching at home.
All of the following times are UK. As is my tradition, recaps and reactions are going to be going up shortly after each one is completed.
So E3 this year has begun early, with multiple new titles all being unveiled in the weeks prior to the event. The thinking behind all of this is that the games won’t be lost in the crush of the main conferences, or get overshadowed by bigger, more entertaining announcements. So in that respect, let’s look at this crush of games that all hit at once and that I’m gonna lump together.
So Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Just Cause 3 and Final Fantasy 7 remake More Tomb Raider hopefully Kingdom Hearts 3 is overdue some footage as well FF15 and FF14 Heavensward news seems likely too. Life is Strange has been one of my highlights of the year so far, so hopefully we will see some more risky smaller investments by Square Enix in this vein.
