Call of Duty WW2 Brotherhood

Call of Duty takes a trip back to the past! Call of Duty WW2 gets a WorldWide Reveal!

Available November 3rd, and featuring the return of the “Big Red One” to the Call of Duty series. Check out the details below!

In development for two and a half years, so Sledgehammer were clearly given the time to work on this. No Rush job here hopefully.

Call of Duty WW2 DDAY

We opened with D-Day, and there seemed to be a focus on the American combatants mostly. They later confirmed 1944-1945 as the time period, with the European front as the only theatre. UK intelligence officer/French Resistance Female Leader. Playing as Private Red Daniels, joined by best friend Private Robert Zussman (marketed as Jewish American) as they fight their way across the European front.

Brotherhood and Comradery were essential themes for the dev team. The Split between the importance of the mission and the importance of the mission they carry out. in terms of visual style  they wanted emotionally dark and visually beautiful.

Story will weave historic combats encounters with original story. So expect D-Day, French Countryside, City Fights. All your old favourites. Call of Duty WW2 is bringing back the classics.

Flamethrower exists somewhere in the game, so look forward to that coming back.

They keep saying boots on the ground. Are the jetpacks gone?

Co-op is confirmed, seemingly a completely separate mode to take on the role of Zombies. The Co-op game will be a horror game, apparently chronicling the attempt of the Third Reich to make an army. So it’s a Nazi Zombie Co-op Campaign built in. A little odd that we’re getting Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty WW2, since it’s not a Treyarch game, but it does actually fit the theme for the first time in a while.

Multiplayer will feature a new game mode with Asymmetric objectives where the Axis and Allies forces are going to be recreating historic battles. It changes map designs and the like.
Divisions will be like Clans which will allow fans to commit to specific career paths. Headquarters is a social space outside of multiplayer games which will allow players to interact outside gameplay. Maybe like Destiny’s tower area?

And private multiplayer beta will be arriving later this year. Following the trailer, we’re getting Q&A and some interviews with the cast.

So we’re getting Saving Private Ryan/Band Of Brothers again. It’s not the worst thing in the world, especially as we are at 10 Years since the last Call of Duty game in WW2. However, especially considering World at War’s globe trotting campaign, this feels maybe a little condensed. It looks incredible, obviously, but is that enough? Nostalgia only trades so far, and Call of Duty WW2 is very much an old story in a new suit.
