Ubisoft E3 2019

Ubisoft E3 2019 Conference Report

Ubisoft has a whole bunch of potential good stuff coming, starting with Watch Dogs Legion. What surprises will we see at Ubisoft E3 2019?

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Starting Ubisoft E3 2019 with the Assassin’s Creed Symphony, coming to a city near you this year.
Before the show, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey got added modes. story Creator Mode and Discovery Mode.

Story Creator Mode has a cross platform quest creator system. This allows for branching dialogues and has quest structures easily built in.

The Discover Mode allows for full exploration of the world, and the individual areas have tours which now end in quizzes. Story Creator is out now, Discovery Tour is available this fall in game and in standalone mode.

They’re playing a medley of Assassin’s Creed music which is a much more sedate way to start the conference compared to the Usual Just Dance danceathon.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Britain has taken to Brexit poorly. A resistance being organised by many people. Anyone can join the fight.

All of this is very landan, Individual NPCs all generated with their own schedules and lives. Armed troops in the streets, drones and propaganda everywhere.

Almost ZombiU esque, you’re using a variety of specialised characters to accomplish tasks. Picking and choosing for different missions at different levels.

Permadeath for characters. Play an old lady to get through security as no one suspects her. Then clamber over fences and beat the shit out of cops.

London has never looked more awful. It’s a dystopian mess more than usual. Incredibly well realised.

Stun guns in addition to  masks to hide identities.

Armed resistance works better here than in San Francisco. Clearly fighting human trafficking criminals and drones or hideously awful fascist troops.

Recruits offer better skills and abilities during missions.

This looks wild.

Clint Hocking (of Far Cry 2 fame) talking about how Britain is at a crossroads, with the streets and populace completely crippled by security forces and suppressive authorities.

Fully simulated npcs, with each having a unique way of being presented in the game. Can be recruited  in specialised missions.

Idea that everyone can be a hero, because everyone needs to be.

And now he’s actually up on stage. Blatant pandering as he brings his dog on stage.

Roundup

Ubisoft E3 2019 was fairly positive I thought. We maybe didn’t need ten minutes of Rob McElhenney talking about a tv show, but I can’t lie, Watchdogs Legion blew me away. And shooting fascists makes me significantly more comfortable having live guns in the game compared to the quirky hacking of 2.

God’s and Monsters and Rainbow Six Quarantine both seem interesting, but obviously gameplay is key and we didn’t see that.

As for the game-pass, I was initially worried but at 60 dollars a game, that works out at three games a year for. Even not considering the fact you’re getting the ultimate editions. Obviously another subscription service meaning not owning games has it’s own issues.
