LA Noire Title

Geek Errant Recommends: LA Noire

September 30, 2017 Conor 0

Let’s get it out of the way. LA Noire is not a game for everyone. The story is cliched, oddly paced and tropey. The incredibly expensive facial recognition tech is somewhat let down by the clunky dialogue system. But in spite of all that, it does a fantastic job of capturing the feel of being at the heart of Noir Detective stories. Even Better, LA Noire is a perfect game to play with a group of friends. Following the clues, making connections and catching lying witnesses out is better with company

Tacoma Review

Tacoma is a story you know, in a place you don’t. The characters are familiar and real, but the setting is literally otherworldly. It is the story of ordinary people in an extraordinary situation. Tacoma is a first person interactive drama from Fullbright. You play as corporate worker named Amyitjyoti  (Amy) Ferrier. You’ve been sent to gather the Onboard Management AI from the abandoned Tacoma Space station. You’ve been hired to go and gather all the recordings of the crew, to find out what happened to cause the station to stop functioning a few days ago.

Castlevania Review

July 12, 2017 Conor 0

Castlevania is a game series based around the troubles of the Belmont family, as they tackle the monsters sent by Dracula to torment the people. The animated series brought to us from Netflix and written by Warren Ellis has been adapted from that core concept. With only four episodes, Castlevania is more of a proof of concept than anything else. Saying that, It’s compelling, hideous and leaves you wanting more.

Tokyo 42 is a stunningly realised depiction of a neon Pan-Asian future city. It’s also a great indie game built around clever camera controls and some really good shooting gameplay. Plus an excellently flappy coat.

Thomas Was Alone Up and to the Right

Geek Errant Recommends: Thomas Was Alone

May 29, 2017 Conor 0

Thomas was Alone is a short, indie puzzle platforming game created by Mike Bithell as a browser game in 2010, and then again on PC/OSX in 2012. Since then it’s been ported to almost every system available. So why are people so willing to buy and rebuy this game after so many years? And Why do we recommend it?
